Tradition, quality and customer focus since 1884
San Camilo was founded in 1884 in the historic Barrio Yungay neighbourhood of Santiago, Chile. From the outset, the bakery offered classic products such as coliza, marraquetas and jams, which quickly became popular with the neighbours. In the 1920s, Antonio Ferrán Sabaté took over the company, expanded distribution and established the Ferrán family permanently in management. In the following decades, the company grew steadily: from developing new products to opening shops in metro stations and shopping centres.
Today, the bakery operates over 60 branches in 18 municipalities in the greater Santiago area. San Camilo attaches great importance to quality, tradition, proximity to customers and spreading joy through artisan products, thereby consolidating its role as a fixture in everyday Chilean life.
We were used to more manual processes, with equipment that did not reach the productivity levels of the Combiline. The first Koenig unit we purchased here at San Camilo was a Combiline, and in April next year we will celebrate the tenth anniversary of its arrival.
From craftsmanship to high performance
Several years ago, San Camilo received its first Combiline from Koenig – the beginning of a collaboration that continues to this day. Previously, many processes were still manual and machine performance was significantly lower. With the Combiline, this changed immediately: a production output of 900 kilograms per hour became a reality and set new standards for efficiency and quality.
In a country like Chile, which is far away from Europe, local service plays a crucial role. Koenig’s local team supports San Camilo with technical expertise, fast spare parts supply and close cooperation that masters every challenge.
Koenig supports San Camilo with tailor-made solutions for long-term success. A special example of this innovative strength is the traditional Chilean marraqueta. For a long time, it was difficult to produce the typical quality by machine. Through targeted adjustments and continuous exchange, it was possible to produce the marraqueta in consistently high quality. This success underlines Koenig’s commitment to developing solutions that meet the needs of its customers.
The partnership between San Camilo and Koenig today stands for trust, innovation and mutual progress, demonstrating how an investment in technology can become a sustainable success story.
A good example of Koenig's ability to innovate and adapt to customer needs is the marraqueta! This typical Chilean product is very familiar to us, and thanks to its wide availability and Koenig's innovative strength, we were finally able to produce it perfectly with the Combiline.
